Programme Assistant – Uganda (September 2023)

This is an exciting time to be joining WFD, we are now looking to recruit an experienced Programme Assistant to support the development of our programmes in Uganda.

Location: Kampala

Occasional in-country travel is required to support programme implementation and/or oversee activities as directed is required for the position.

Contract:  Fixed Term Contract for Service. From: September 2023 to 31st March 2024. Full-time.

Programme Assistant  – Uganda

This new programme seeks to contribute impact towards more inclusive policy and legal provisions for young women, girls, people with disabilities and key populations in Uganda. The Programme Assistant will provide support to Uganda team in the delivery of programme activities.

Under the direction of the Country Director, Programme Coordinator, Senior Programme Manager or Regional Director, the Programme Assistant will be involved in a variety of administrative and operational tasks including financial administration, logistics, travel and event management, and systems and processes support.

The core skills and experience we are looking for someone with proven programme/project administration experience and skill in:

  • Programme (information, data management and impact reporting) systems and process.
  • Logistical support, and with excellent organisation and events management skills.
  • Contracting and procurement procedures.

In addition you should also have the following:

  • Extensive (at least 2-3 years) experience working within a similar role.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Self-motivated and effectively plan and organise own workloads. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Dynamics) 
  • Ability to work with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Proven programme/project administration experience and skill in:
  • Programme (information, data management and impact reporting) systems and process.
    • Logistical support, and with excellent organisation and events management skills.
    • Contracting and procurement procedures.

This is a locally based field role; applicants must be eligible to work in Uganda.
